What are Scarfoxes

What is a Scarfox?
Scarfoxes are a closed species.
Scarfoxes are magical plush beings: Their bodies are made of cloth, they have no bones, and have mist in their bodies instead of blood.
What is the point of getting a Scarfox?
By getting a Scarfox you become part of a fun, wholesome, and kind community where you can play the RPG and partake in countless events!

Obtaining a Scarfox

How can I get my own Scarfox?
• There are monthly Make-Your-Own(MYO) raffle sales you can participate in. These are announced in the #updates channel in the Discord server.
• There are occasional random free First-Time-Owner(FTO) MYO raffles.
• There are occasional First-Come-First-Serve(FCFS) ticket sales in the cash shop.
• You can purchase a premade design during auctions.
• You can obtain one through trade/resale from other scarfox owners.
Is it okay to ask someone if they are selling/trading their Scarfox?
No, soliciting people about their Scarfox is against the rules.
It's only allowed if the current owner has a public post or state somewhere on their public profile that they are okay with receiving offers on their Scarfox.

Trading a Scarfox

What is the Scarfox Trade Cooldown?
This is a period of time that a scarfox is not allowed to be resold, traded, or gifted.
How long is the Scarfox cooldown?
Two weeks. This counts for both pre-made scarfoxes and recently approved MYO designs.
Can I announce that my Scarfox is up for trade / swap / resale while it's on cooldown?
No, doing so will result in a warning.
My Scarfox design is based on a pre-existing design, so if you trade one you trade both. Can I change my Scarfox design so I can trade it without having to trade the other pre-existing design with it?
Yes you can, but you can't just make a whole new fox. You'll have to adjust it enough so the old design is still recognisable, however different enough from the pre-existing design to be able to trade it.

Scarfox anatomy questions

How tall are Scarfox minis?
Minis are smaller than 4ft / 1.2m.
Why do Scarfoxes have big hands / large arms?
Mother wished them to be like dolls, and dolls have aspects about them that are exaggerated. They need big arms to give big hugs!
Are Scarfox teeth made of fabric too?
They can be if you want. They are basically stuffed animals, so they can be made of plastic, fabric, felt etc.
Can a Scarfox's ears turn and swivel like real animals (like a cat,etc.)?
They can be if you want. just so long as the ears are generally still attached to their heads.

Redesigning your Scarfox

How often can I redesign my Scarfox?
You can redesign your Scarfox as often as you want.
What is the design limit on redesigning your Scarfox?
The redesign must have some resemblance or call-backs to the original design, so you can’t just make your Scarfox completely different. When you submit the redesign we can get an idea of what you want and we work with you.

Scarfox of the month

What is Scarfox of the Month?
Scarfox of the Month(FotM) is when we randomly select a Scarfox monthly that becomes the Scarfox of the Month! They are featured for an entire month for you to draw.
How many crystals do you get for drawing Scarfox of the Month?
Double crystals.
My Scarfox is selected for Scarfox of the month but I do not wish this, how can I opt out?
Message the mod that updated it to remove and reroll Scarfox of the Month. Mods will check to see if you accept gift art of your Scarfox beforehand, so make sure to untick that box in your Scarfox's ML profile to avoid conflict.
Where can I see the current Scarfox of the month?
In the discord server, channel: #monthly-scarfox.
What do I do if crystal count is closed while I drew the Scarfox of the month?
Upload your artwork somewhere public where we can trace the date of upload via the time-stamps. When it reopens and while submitting your artwork for crystal counting, link the file and make sure to state it was for the fox of the month.

Crystals

What are crystals?
Crystals are the RPG currency from the Scarfox Realm.
How do I obtain crystals?
Any non-NSFW Scarfox art is eligible for crystals.
Can I exchange real currency for crystals?
No. Crystals do not equal real-world currencies so there is no direct translated value for them.
What can crystals be used for?
Potions and some pet eggs and items. You can see what's currently available here!
Can I make art of other people's Scarfoxes for crystals?
Yes! Any non-NSFW art you make of any Scarfox is eligible for crystal counting, however make sure you have permission of the owner(s). You can find whether they accept gift art or not on the profile of the Scarfox. NSFW art is not elegible.
Can I make art of NPCS for crystals?
Yes! You are more than free to and don't need to ask for permission.
Do I get crystals for art that someone else drew for me of my Scarfox, such as gift art, commissions and art trades?
No. Only the artist that created the artwork has right to all the crystals.

Crystal count

What are the rates of crystal counting?
Currently we are still working on how crystals are counted and cannot give you a proper answer to that.
How do I get my crystals added / counted?
You submit them to the crystal gallery on the website where they will be counted.
Do I get crystals for visual art only?
You get crystals for all art (drawings, literature, 3D works, etc.) you create.
Can my NSFW work be counted for crystals?
No. Since we're a PG-16 group we don't allow NSFW work publicly into the group.
How many crystals do you get for Scarfox of the Month?
Double crystals.

How often are MYO sales held?
MYO sales are held monthly.

Where / How are MYO sales announced?
The "MYO Sales" and/or "Potions Sales" roles will be pinged through #updates in the Discord server.
Are monthly MYO sales first come first serve?
No, monthly MYO sales are raffle sales. You are picked randomly from a participation list, and only pay if you are picked.
What are the invoice payment deadlines?
24 Hours upon receiving your invoice which you will receive confirmation for when it is sent out. You will be expected to pay it within the time limit, and if you fail to pay the invoice your slot will be revoked and given to someone else.
Can I purchase an MYO slot for someone else?
Yes, but MUST notify a mod before purchase and state that you are purchasing an MYO for someone else.
*Note: you cannot claim for others during raffles sales too keep the raffle fair.
How do we get our MYO slot added to the website after we paid for it?
You wait for Darci to add the MYO slot to the website.

MYO sale process

I won an MYO from a raffle! What next?
1. Participants are rolled and picked on the website.
2. Darci gathers the e-mails from the winning members that were used to make their account.
3. Darci sends out e-mails with a form and rules to follow + asks for proof of winning the raffle.
4. Once Darci received a response with the form filled out, she will send you an invoice to your PayPal and let you know it's been sent. As soon as you receive your invoice, you have 24 hours to pay for your slot.
5. When you paid your slot you message Darci to confirm you've paid; please include the transaction ID.
6. Once everyone has paid, Darci uploads the MYO slots. Please be patient for your MYO slot to be uploaded.
• Whoever hasn't responded within 24 hours will get their slot revoked, reroll the slot to someone else.
• Those who fail to respond to messages or pay their slot within 24 hours will not be allowed to participate in raffles for the following two months.

MYO slot traits

What types of traits are allowed for each kind of slot?
• Common Slots (C) : only Common traits.
• Uncommon Slots (UC) : Uncommon and Common traits.
• Rare Slots (R) : Rare , Uncommon, and Common traits.
• Very Rare Slots (VR) : Very Rare, Rare, Uncommon, and Common Traits.
What is the trait limit I can add to my MYO?
4 Traits max.
It can be any trait up to the rarity of your MYO, except common traits. "Common" traits do not affect trait limitations so you can add as many as you want!
• Example 1: you have a Very Rare MYO, you can add an Uncommon trait, a Rare trait and two very rare traits. Then you can also have any Common trait.
• Example 2: You have a Rare MYO, you add four Rare traits and two Common traits.
Can I use my potion on my MYO before approval?
Yes! Each potion allows you to add 1 trait depending on the rarity you purchased.
• Example: you buy a Very Rare MYO and an Uncommon potion. You create your MYO with 4 Very Rare traits, and use the Uncommon potion to add one Uncommon trait.
Can I add accessories to my MYO?
Yes, that's fine. However when sending your MYO for approval please provide a transparent image of your Scarfox without accessories for clear identification.

Mystic, Hollow, and Unstable MYO Slots

How do i obtain these special MYO slots?
Through Specific sales on Discord.
What types of traits are allowed for each kind of slot?
• Mystic Slots : Mystic, Very Rare, Rare, Uncommon and Common traits.
• Hollow Slots : Hollow, Very Rare, Rare, Uncommon and Common traits.
• Unstable Slots : Mystic+Hollow, Very Rare, Rare, Uncommon and Common traits. *It is required to have at least 1 Mystic and 1 Hollow trait to be considered unstable.
What kind and how many traits are allowed for Mystic/Hollow Slots?
4 Traits max.
Each slot type is allowed 4 slots like most slots, but the types of traits are as follows:
• 2 Traits of either Mystic (for Mystic Slots) or Hollow (for Hollow Slot) types.
• Plus 2 Traits between Uncommon to Very Rare.
(Commons will still be free.)
What kind and how many traits are allowed for Unstable Slots?
8 Traits max.
For Unstable Myo slots, the traits spread are as follows:
• 4 traits of both Mystic or Hollow traits can be used. *It is required to have at least 1 of each trait type.
• Plus 4 traits between Uncommon to Very Rare (just like most slots)
• You may also sacrifice your 4 Uncommon to Very Rare traits for 2 Mystic and/or Hollow traits.
(Commons will still be free.)
• Example: Head - Mouthless and Divine Eye (x2 Mystic); Arms - Hole and Eye Cluster + Poncho (x2 Hollow + 1 Very rare); Body - Growth and Scars (Very Rare + Uncommon); Tail - Long Regular (Rare)
*Note: Make sure that when designing an Unstable slot, you make sure that you add all needed traits on the form.

MYO design feedback

Which mod can I message for questions about my MYO WIP/idea?

Can I share my MYO WIP with people?
You can share your WIP privately with friends or in the designated #myo-design-feedback channel on Discord, as long as you follow its rules. It's forbidden to share it anywhere else.
Do I need to watermark the MYO / Redesign WIP when I’m messaging a mod privately?
No.
Can I post an MYO WIP / Scarfox redesign in the #myo-design-feedback Discord server channel if I’m not the owner, but tasked / commissioned to design it?
Yes, just follow the normal rules but state that you are the designer and not owner.

MYO approval

Where do I post my MYO design to be approved?
When you click on your MYO slot in your MYO inventory, there should be an option "Submit MYO Design".
What information do I add when I submit my MYO?
The site will prompt you for what you need to submit, but you will also need to make sure of the following:
• ONLY submit a transparent version of the scarfox's art. If it looks at all like a reference sheet you will be asked to resubmit a proper image. Any additional references can be posted in the crystal gallery on the website or in alternate locations (like toyhouse).
• The thumbnail must show the head of the scarfox overall. Faces are one of the easiest parts to recognize even at a glance.
• Make sure your MYO design is not watermarked or visibly signed. Also, do not include descriptions or general text in the image of the scarfox.
• List ALL the traits you used.
• Do NOT go above trait limits (4 Traits by most standards) unless you have potions (for any trait Uncommon or higher) or if the trait is Common.
• Make sure to include all the potions you need. Potions must be in your inventory prior to submitting the design or updating it.
I don’t see the MYO design submission button, what do I do?
It probably means that your slot is an old MYO slot, in this case you will have to use the button “Update Design” on the bottom left.
Can I send my MYO for approval on the Deviantart masterlist?
The Deviantart masterlist is inactive; you can only submit your MYO to the official website.

MYO Ticket

What is an MYO ticket?
MYO tickets are the slots that appear in your inventory when you purchase or receive a slot through the website. Tickets need to be activated to become an MYO slot.
How do I activate my ticket?
You go to your inventory, click on the ticket, check the checkbox and then proceed to click the "activate" button. It should now appear as an MYO slot in the masterlist.
How do I hand over my MYO ticket to another user?
You have to convert your ticket into a MYO slot as tickets cannot be transferred on the website at this time. (refer to above question on how to)

Reselling MYO slots

Can I resell my MYO slot?
As of October 10, 2021, MYO slots can be RESOLD, GIFTED(with admin approval), or VOUCHERED.
Trading myo slots for designs/art/etc. is strictly prohibited.
What are the rules for Reselling MYO Slots?
These are the rules from discord which you can also read on the website Here under the MYO Guidelines
Can I resell, trade, or voucher my myo slot if I got it for crystals, from an event, or from a prompt?
No.
What happens if I try or have traded my myo slot?
You will be issued a warning. If you repeat the action you will get a strike instead.

MYO misc

I purchased an MYO slot, when will it appear in the masterlist?
Please be patient! MYO slots are arranged by DARCI, and she does her best to get them online as soon as possible.
How do I transfer my myo slot to another user?
Each MYO slot has an option 'Transfer' on their page (as seen here)
Do I have to wait for cooldown to transfer my newly-made myo slot?
No, not if it's a slot created from activating a MYO ticket.
The MYO slot's cooldown only applies AFTER it's been transferred to a new user.
Are we allowed to advertise our myo resale on other sites? (dA,FA,toyhouse,etc.)
Yes, you can as long as you still follow rules of not selling or trading them for more than the slot's worth.

• Patreon rewards (payment of that term; must provide screenshot proof).
What can't be added to the value of my Scarfox?
• Artwork made by yourself.

Misc value questions

Why can't I add potions I bought for crystals as value to my Scarfox?
The potion has to be bought with USD in order to be eligible to add the value to the Scarfox. Crystals do not represent a real currency.
Can I value Myo slots or Potions I got for crystals/free the same as those same items in the Cash Shop? (ex. Uncommon Potion: 400 Crystals = 15$)
No. Crystals do not equal real-world currencies so there is no direct translated value for them.
This means that anything you get with crystals or for free from prompts/events/etc. cannot be valued the same as if you bought them with real world currency.
Why can't the art I created myself be added as value to my Scarfox?
The art you make yourself or as gifts are made 'for free' or of your own free will meaning there's no particular monetary value to them.
Therefore if people were allowed to value their free art with monetary value they could abuse this to make the value of their Scarfox insanely high in order to resell and make profit off of it.
If I receive art from someone as a Patreon reward, can that value be added to my Scarfox?
Yes, but only for the price you paid for that term. You will need to provide proof of payment and proof that the Patreon artist drew the piece.
If I base a Scarfox off of an existing design, can I add the value of the art from that existing design to my Scarfox?
No; it has to be art of the Scarfox, not the character they are associated with as they are considered separate values.
If I commission someone to create the masterlist image, can that be added to the value of my Scarfox?
Yes.
Does changing a Scarfox design make the Scarfox lose their value?
No.

General Trait Questions

Are there any color restrictions for my Scarfox design?
No.
Can I add accessories to my Scarfox?
Yes, that's fine. However when sending your MYO for approval please provide a transparent image of your Scarfox without accessories for clear identification.
Are traits combinable?
Yes! Each trait takes up a trait slot however, so be mindful if you have restrictions (like with myo slots).
How often can I redesign my Scarfox?
You can redesign your Scarfox as often as you want.

Yes and it would be considered a modified floppy and XL floppy depending on how extreme.

Do long ears have to be fluffy?
No, they can be short haired too.

Head Traits

visor

Can eyes be part of the visor?
No. The visor trait is a COVER over the scarfox's eye or face meaning their real face is still normal underneath it.
You may need another trait do do otherwise.
Can the visor be opened?
No; it's part of the head.
How big or small can a visor be?
It can extend from the base of the ears to the cheeks and chin.

small horns

Can small horns be curved?
Yes.
Can small horns be one in the midde?
That would be a combination of unicorn + small horns.

closed mouth

Can Scarfoxes open their mouth with the closed mouth trait?
Yes but it is very painful for them.

large horns

Can large horns be any shape, for example antlers or bull horns?
Yes.
Can void eyes be closed?
No.

Can void eyes emote and show expressions?
No.

Arms Traits

scars

Do stitches count as scars?
Yes.
If my Scarfox has stitches over scars, does that count as two traits?
No. Stitches and Scars are in the same category so you would have the ability to use both.

claws

When a scarfox has the claws trait, can the nails be painted, like normal nails?
Yes, but for the masterlist they need their original colour.

spikes

Do spikes on the belt trait count as the spike trait?
If the spikes are directly on the arm it counts as the spike trait, if the spikes are part of an accessory-belt then it is just an accessory or clothing.

piercings

If you have piercings on both arms, does it count as one trait?
Yes. Any piercing on the arms is considered this trait.

fluff

If I just have a small part of fluff on the arm, does it count as the fluff trait or is it a feature?
Any fluff on the arm counts as the fluff trait.

functional item

If my functional litem broke, can it be (partially) removed for repair? Or does it heal magically?
You can choose which way you prefer!

Tail Traits

If I have the animal tail trait, can the type of animal be changed?
Yes.

Body Traits

Misc.

Can the poncho and the wing trait be combined?
Yes; but each trait takes up a trait slot or potion, one of each.
Example: Poncho + Floating Limbs + Multiple Limbs uses 3 trait slots.
If you have the extra limbs trait and the poncho/cloak trait, could you have extra arms with that same trait or is it an extra poncho/cloak trait per instance?
Yes; each set of arms can have the poncho-cloak trait applied!

wisps

Can my wisp be an object?
Yes, but it has to be small and passable for a wisp (like a muffin for example).

glowing marks

Can the eyes glow if I have the glowing [mark] trait?
Yes.

animalia

Do actual hooves count as the animalia trait?
Yes.

growth

Do sprouts growing out of the arms / body count as growth trait?
Yes.

halo

can haloes be turned 'on and off', like can they be absent in some drawings/be optional?
No. Halos are permanent and always visable; however, they can move them temporarily.
Example being it can tilted or they can grab a hold of a solid halo and hold it in their hands/arms.

Mini Form (subtype)

Can Mini Scarfoxes have a normal/average form too?
Yes.
Do Scarfoxes with a mini form need the mini form visible on the masterlist?
It’s recommended but not necessary.
How tall are minis Scarfoxes?
Minis are smaller than 4ft / 1.2m.

Elemental Cloak (subtype)

I can't find the elemental trait in the listing, where did it go?
The trait has officially been shifted into being a Subtype category as "Elemental Cloak".
What kind of elementals can I use with this subtype?
Any (humanly) known elements are ok. (example: fire, water, earth, celestial/galaxy, shadow, etc.)
How and where can I use elemental cloak on the Scarfox's body?
Anywhere! So long as your scarfox has this subtype you may place it wherever and however you see fit.
Is the elemental cloak an on/off subtype, like how a fox can switch between its normal and mini?
Yes!
We do ask that the ML only shows the element-on version. You can submit ref of with the subtype on-and -off into the gallery(s), so it attaches to the Scarfox's image gallery.

Does our name on the Scarfox-Realm have to be the same as on Deviantart?
It can be anything as long as it is not offensive and PG-16.
Can you upload art you commissioned to the gallery (not for crystals) as long as the creator is credited?
We don’t recommend it if the artist that created the piece is part of the community and will be uploading it for crystals, that would cause duplicates.

Is the masterlist on DA still active? Can we note it?
No and no, you have to use the website.
Can I voluntarily ask to have my scarfox voided for any reason?
Voids can be requested in 2 forms, temporary or permanent voiding, please read this news bulletin to learn more about the process (falls under the 2022-10-06 15:25:37 section), if you have any further questions do not hesitate to message a staff member.

Banning

How many warnings / strikes before I get banned?

What happens if I get banned?
Getting banned means you don't get to participate in the community anymore. You are allowed to keep your Scarfox for yourself, but you won't be able to use it within the community at all. You may still choose to trade/sell any scarfoxes you own. You are also no longer able to obtain any new scarfoxes thereafter.
What is "Scarfox Voiding"?
"Voiding" is when a Scarfox gets scrapped from the Masterlist, meaning it does not count as an official Scarfox design anymore.
Does my Scarfox get "voided" if I get banned?
No, getting banned does not mean getting your Scarfox voided. Voiding of characters only happens in extreme circumstances, mostly when the existence of the design itself has caused trouble.

Discord Server Boost

What rewards do we receive for boosting the Discord server?
Trait Potions: Uncommon, Rare, and Mini.
How Are the rewards for boosting the server given out?
You have to make a claim on the website where you provide proof of the boost and then choose a potion. Screenshot proofs are preferred.
